It all began in January 2006 when, as a Municipal Clerk and Civil Marriage Officiant, Cheri officiated her first marriage ceremony in Caledon’s Town Hall and was smitten with the role.

After a successful career in both the private and public sectors Cheri took early retirement in 2008 but continued officiating marriages for the Town of Caledon for the next seven years. She also worked with the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO) for nine years training municipal employees on solemnizing civil marriages.

In December 2010 Cheri was appointed by The Ontario Humanist Society (OHS) and licenced by the Province of Ontario to officiate marriage ceremonies. She formed her company, CherCo Services and began to officiate marriages as a Humanist Officiant. She also added memorial/celebration of life and naming ceremonies to the services she provides.

Cheri was as an active volunteer in Caledon where she has lived since 1972. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels, sat on and the Board of Directors for Abbeyfield Caledon (a retirement home for active seniors) and on a committee of the Central West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC).

Today, Cheri continues her volunteer involvement within Caledon as well as with the Ontario Humanist Society. Cheri has been married to Ray for over 50 years. They have two sons and five perfect grandchildren. When not officiating at Humanist ceremonies Cheri enjoys spending time with family, walking, biking, golfing, gardening, exercising, reading and volunteering. There are never enough hours in a day to fit in all she enjoys.
